If you haven’t tried making your own flaxseed hair gel before, definitely give this one a try.
Many of us suffer from hair problems like split ends, dandruff, itching, or hair falling out. We always keep looking for the right products to treat our hair. Most over the counter products are packed with chemicals that can do more bad then good for our hair if used for a prolonged time.
After a long time of research I bumped in to a couple of effective natural remedies. One of them is this magic homemade mixture:
FLAXSEED HAIR GEL SERUM

Why flaxseed?
Flaxseed is commonly used to improve digestive health, may also help lower blood cholesterol and may help reduce the risk of heart disease, when taken internally. But it is also very beneficial for your hair and skin.
- Flaxseed is rich in Omega-3 fatty acids
- It’s a reliable source of B vitamins
- It’s a powerful antioxidant
Flaxseed promotes hair health, leads to new hair growth, balances the pH and oil production level, keeps hair soft, moisturized and shiny. It’s also great for skin – prevents from premature ageing.
Here’s easy homemade Flaxseed Hair Gel Serum Recipe
The flaxseed hair gel serum is made of as little as two ingredients – flax seeds and water. But it can be enriched with a coconut oil plus an essential oil of your choice, preferably lavender oil, which can speed up hair growth.
You will need:
- 1/4 cup of organic flaxseed
- 2 cups of water
- 2 tbsps organic coconut oil (optional)
- a few drops of essential oil (optional)

Instructions:
- Pour flaxseeds and water into a pot. Bring to boil on medium/low heat.
- Cook for about 10 minutes, stirring often, until it has slimy but not too thick texture and you can see a white froth on the surface.
- Remove from the heat and let it cool.
- Line a measuring cup with a cheesecloth and pour in the cooled mixture, lift up the cheesecloth and squeeze it to strain the gel into the cup.
- The Flaxseed Hair Gel Serum is ready to use or enrich it with oils.

TIP: adding about a teaspoon of vitamin E oil will help to preserve the gel and have it lasts longer.
Distribute the mixture evenly on your hair, gently massage it, clip it and put a shower cap over your hair. You can also wrap a towel over your head. Keep the mask on your hair for half an hour, up to two hours, then wash it off with a gentle shampoo and conditioner.
Flaxseed hair gel can be also used as a hair moisturizing leave-in conditioner, especially for curly hair. It’s not sticky! Hair looks fuller and more voluminous but without the frizz.
